Keith BassettKeith was born and raised in England of Norfolk and Kentish stock and grew up playing rugby, cricket and soccer on that green, rather magical isle. His sister and he spent many summers at their grandparents' home in Norfolk, deep in the country with no electricity or running water. Evenings were spent playing cribbage by lamplight before retiring (literally) to grandma's featherbed.
He graduated from The University of Sussex after studying literature in the School of English and American Studies and took from there a "lifelong interest in literature." He took a second degree from Matlock College, Derbyshire - a beautiful little college deep in D.H. Lawrence country. He has written three books of poetry and two plays in the intervening years. After Sussex, Keith left for the Americas which culminated in his being irrevocably drawn to the mountains of the American west. For the last twenty-five years his wife, Cathryn, and he and have lived in the Flathead Valley of Montana near Glacier National Park. His other passions include skiing, hiking (or merely being in the wilderness), reading, and time spent with family and friends. He has three children who "might not beat me at cribbage all the time but do claim to ski better than I do." (2016) |
Don RobinsonDon , a.k.a. "Bigsky Rat", was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree (Physics/Math. - 1968) and a Master's degree (Math. - 1972) from The University of Washington.
In 1999, Don moved with his wife, Catherine, to the Flathead Valley of Montana, near Glacier National Park, after she accepted a teaching position at the high school in Kalispell. He has lived in the valley ever since. Though no longer married, he and Catherine remain fast friends. During the creation of TurboCrib, Don's background in mathematics and computer antics brought a logical framework to the game. Many ideas were tested as the game expanded and he oversaw the field testing to see what ideas logically worked and were thus worthy of inclusion. Additionally, he prototyped the board and peg sets in his home wood shop (garage, actually) and those efforts came to define today's TurboCrib package. He still makes specialty items when the mood hits. Don's other passions include music, reading, the outdoors, and 41+ years of rabid racquetball (less rabid now, unfortunately), many of those years in league with "The Rats" of West Seattle. He shares his world with four cats on 10+ semi-wooded acres just beyond Kila in the heart of southwest Flathead Valley. (2018) |
